Life Is A Gamble

Heyylloo Blogger World! I have finally sat down for another post. This new idea has also been running in frenzies in my head and I have to get it out. A few weeks ago as my college classes let out for a short break in between,  me and two friends headed over to a popular eatery for some lunch. As we go sat down on the tables outside under the dappled shade of the leaves, and warm boxes of food in our hands, an unusual event took place.

Halfway through an old woman on the table behind begins talking to me. Long story short, she was a refugee who had been traveling the states with nothing but two bags of belongings. She hadn't had anything to eat. I got up and got her a pizza, which she gulped down in a few bites. I talked to her, kept her company, gave her some medication, and some more to eat. I watched as her hands shook as she drank water from a cup. She was a refugee from Turkey and had wandered the globe to find a place where she could seek refuge. Somehow she had ended up here in Atlanta. She began to talk and talk about God and many other spiritual things, I listened intently out of courtesy. As my timewas almost up I had to say good bye and go to my next class. The thought of feeding an empty stomach was pure bliss, but the thought of the many lives that roam the streets like this was unnerving.  This launched me into a series of thoughts.

Life is a gamble.

Seriously,  think about it. You can be living in luxury and riches and one day circumstances can put you on the street. You can be trudging on the streets and one chance can make you a billionaire. You can be living a well packaged and content average life, but have someone close to you be taken away. Or you can be leading a decent life and fall into the clutches of a disease. So many events take place in life and everybody sees different tests. For all we know, you can be living a perfect life...but still not be happy. You may gave everything and still have voids in your heart that crave more.

Life is a gamble. We just don't like to say it.
Because we don't like the reveal the cards we are playing.
Life is nothing but gambling.
Because we don't like to show the fears were are sampling.

I don't believe that we should juxtapose our life against somene else's. Or compare ourselves to someone else. We are not in a competition, unlike what we are socialized to believe. We are playing with our own chances and our own time. Everyone sees everything differently. Technically reality isn't even a concept! And here's a big one, reality is fabricated by our minds.
We all live in a different sphere of thoughts, insecurites , and everyday routines. Nothing we do is the same as some one else. How we view the world and how we tackle it, it our reality. So why do we race each other? Why do people feel the need to run after grandeur and luxury, when living normally is just as fulfilling. Luxury is material. And material is temporary. And temporary things make temporary happiness.

These are simple things we don't comprehend when we become sucked into a redundant routine that is everyday life. But I urge you to think. Are you gambling with life right now? Or is life gambling with you?

At the end of the day the best and worst things happen in a chance, a second, and a spontaneous moment.
