Hey everyone, it's been a while since I've done a more casual post. I want to start incorporating pieces of my life on here to make it more personable and relatable. Lately, I have amassed quite a list of favorites. Favorite things to do, favorite things to wear, favorite things to eat, and so on. Here are my favorites for this winter!
Fashion: In terms of clothing and accessories, I have been loving cutesy and girly dresses, usually in pastel tones with a mild vintage influence. They make easy and put together outfits. It takes out all the mixing, matching, and guesswork when building an outfit. I have always been a dress person, but this year I have begun to appreciate them even more. As a smaller and petite sized person, dresses are easily flattering. Other types of outfits such as tops and jeans require more thought and size accuracy to be as flattering. If you are into vintage, Parisian, cottage-core, or coquette styles, cute and casual feminine dresses are great staples.
I have also been in love with Mary Jane-style shoes. They are cute, doll-like, flattering under most outfits, and they add a quaint old fashioned charm to any look. I have been seeing Mary Jane-style shoes pick up steam ever since Versace released their Medusa heels. This type of shoe has also been surfacing at many stores by many different brands. Just in these past 2 months, I've bought 2 pairs of Mary Jane style heels.
I've also been loving block-heeled shoes in general. I like sandals and boots with block heels. Being a heels type of person, I love finding cute pairs of shoes with block heels. They are comfortable, flattering, and really help people on the shorter end like myself.
Another favorite as of late has been pink purses. I've been using and loving pink purses for a long time before now. But as of late, I have found a few new purses in varying pastel pink shades. I have a blush pink tote by Betsey Johnson for work, a pastel pink top handle purse by Like Dreams for a casual day out, a rose-gold top handle purse by Kate Spade for fancier occasions, and finally, a deeper pink crossbody bag by Vera Bradley for more physically demanding trips like going to the park or the arcade.
On the accessories front, I have been using pearls heavily. I have quite a few pearl bracelets in varying styles and colors to mix and match with my outfits. Pearl accessories are simple, classy, and they don't tend to wear out like other accessories may. They also complete the whole Coquette/Parisian Chic aesthetic I love.
Food: I have been into beverages as of late. Drinks such as bubble tea and matcha latte have been the top favorites recently. In specific mango bubble tea and the iced matcha latte from Dunkin Donuts. I've also been enjoying teas at home, mainly Green Tea and Chamomile Tea.
Books: I love to read and I often post book reviews here on my blog. For the past 2 years and especially recently, I have been into Dark Academia-themed books and classic literature. Authors such as Jules Verne, Oscar Wilde, Paul Coelho, Donna Tartt, and Benjamin Wood have been on my recent to-be-read list. Modern-day books with a Dark Academia theme have also been a favorite. Books such as The Ecliptic, Ninth House, Wildalone, and so on, have been recent favorites. Essentially, books that are dark, gritty, deep, and full of suspense have been my forte for a while.
Shows: I am late on this one, but I've recently watched Stranger Things. That show became an instantaneous favorite. It has all of my favorite elements: a rag tag group of friends, a small-town set in the 80s, a larger-than-life mystery, parallel dimensions, action, humor, suspense, and many twists. Other than Stranger Things, I also like The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, Wolfblood, and House of Anubis. House of Anubis is my all-time favorite comfort show. It's a children's show from Nickelodeon, but it has all the elements of Dark Academia. The show takes place in a British boarding school with a group of dorm-mates and friends who uncover an on-campus cult that includes the teachers and staff of the school. This all uncovers an ancient Egyptian mystery tied in with the history of the school. This then leads to a time-sensitive hunt for magical ancient Egyptian artifacts. The show is intense, comedic, and full of suspense.
This would conclude my recent favorites! What have been your favorites this winter? Feel free to comment down below and start a conversation on favorites.
Thank You for reading,
-ISBAH XOXO
