Hair comes in all colors, lengths, textures, and styles. The mane of hair on our head shapes our persona, self esteem, and personal style. Long and thick hair is venerated. But many people, just like myself, have naturally thin or fine hair. Along with that comes a whole host of struggles. Fine hair has a mind of its own and bad hair days tend to be more common. Here are some fine haired struggles:
1. No Volume: Fine hair does not build volume easily. It takes a myriad of products and blow drying to attain bare minimum bounce. Layered hair cuts and upside down hair drying become rituals for people with fine hair. It can be time consuming and exhausting. It seems as if everyone else can easily get out the door after running a brush through their hair. For fine haired folks, its a struggle to even make it seem like you put effort into your hair.

2. Hair Fall?: People will always ask the dreaded question. "Are you losing hair?" Many people with natural fine hair will find this question slightly off putting. It makes you wonder if your hair really seems that less. This question can be a confidence killer for many as it implies that you do not have enough hair. For people who genetically have thin hair, this question can easily become an insecurity that has no viable solution.

3. Lack Of Hairstyles: Fine haired people can just wish to try out all the cute hair styles everyone else is doing. But, they simply do not have enough hair for the style. Hair styles like braids, pigtails, and even bangs, are questionable when there isn't enough hair to distribute. Quite often, they get stuck in the vicious cycle of redundant hairstyles.

4. The Bob Or The Ponytail: The short cropped bob or the ponytail become go to hair styles. We eventually get caught up in a cycle of either having cropped hair or having a ponytail. These two styles can be very stylish but also very easily mundane if not executed correctly.

5. Facial Structure: Unless you are one of the lucky few born with an impeccable facial structure, this does not apply to you. But for many fine haired people, framing the face becomes a huge struggle. Hair that gracefully frames a face can enhance one's features or even mask facial insecurities. Fine hair is typically not voluminous or quantitatively enough to frame the face. This is one of the biggest struggles.

While we all struggle with these issues, it is always good to remember that fine hair deserves love too. It is unique in its own way. A good haircut and shampoo can go miles for fine hair. Its all about what works for the person. Fine haired people have advantages like: our hair dries pretty quickly, no need for a hair dryer, no need for heat damage. We can also rock slick back hair styles like nobody's business. All in all, we don't have to brush through alot, use copious amounts of hair products, or worry about intense tangles and sweat. There are pros and cons to everything. You just have to learn to accept them and live with them.
