How To Make A Paris Themed Bedroom

Bedrooms have always been one's sanctuary and happy little place. Many people decorate and style their rooms in a way to express themselves. A very popular room theme currently has been the fancy, feminine, Parisian theme. It is actually very easy to achieve without spending too much. Keep on reading to find out how!

COLOR PALETTE: First, the room being decorated needs to be of a soft or muted color. White, ivory, pastel pink, beige, tan are suitable and minimalist colors that will suit this theme. Most homes are painted these colors, so this part shouldn't be a hurdle for many. The Bed set along with the dresser and nightstand should also be in a similar soft shade. White, brown, tan, beige, or pastels will work fine. Decide the layout of the room and set the furniture accordingly. This is the basic foundation of the room. The decor will turn this empty canvas into a Parisian room.

BASIC DECOR: Use light, soft, lacey curtains for the windows. If sun coverage is an issue, you may have to get layered curtains or stick to basic white blinds. Typically, soft ivory curtains with details set the stage for a dainty and vintage look.  Next, obtain a few yards of feathered boa material in a shade of white or pastels. You can use these long feathery fabrics as banners or borders. They can easily be hung up over headboards, windows, mirrors, doorways, or all along the crease where the ceiling meets the wall.

This helps the room get an instant boost in the decorative feel. An alternative to feathered boas are long strings of faux pearls. If the boas are not of good material, they can shed easily. Loose feathers can easily become a hassle. Pearls are a safe route and can be applied everywhere the boas can be. Another alternative to the boas and pearls is long lace. Laced fabric of your choice can also be used to decorate the room in the same fashion.

Soft flowers always add a feminine touch. Using faux flowers as decor around your room will give it a classic touch. You can also use Parisian-themed wall decals of your choice. Eiffel Towers, Macarons, Flowers, are just examples of decals you can use. Place the decals in strategic places. Areas of the room or walls that are going to be empty are great candidates for these decals.

If you are trying to achieve a more princess-like touch, you can use a sheer canopy for your bed. Toss some cute, furry, or sparkly pillows onto your bed to give it a nice and cozy look. To add an extra glow to your room, use Fairy String Lights on the headboard or on the perimeter of your mirror. It adds a cute twinkle to the room. If you like to keep lamps in your room, try to get a lamp that matches the color scheme and is preferably laced, embroidered, or sparkled. Set up some scented candles around the room. Pick candles in soft shades with sweet scents, it further enhances the atmosphere of the room.

If you have a vanity/dresser you can do a lot with it in terms of decoration. Like mentioned before, you can string lights, boas, pearls, flowers, lace, or any banner-like decoration of your choice around it. To boost the Parisian feel, display your perfumes or delicate makeup items on your vanity. You can use elegant makeup organizers, or a glass-like plate to display your perfumes, jewelry, candles, or makeup. It is all about building up the aesthetic. You can even leave some crushed flower petals in the bottom of your display container to further the look.

If you are a fashion enthusiast and want to have your fashion items on display, consider installing shelving on to a wall in your room. This way you can display handbags, shoes, and accessories. Choose items that match the theme to display. This little addition can give your room a more haute couture feel.
