Katy Kat Matte Lipsticks Review

Heyyllo Blogger World,
It is a pretty warm Friday today and I was being unproductive. So now I shall post and put that energy to use. So 2 weeks ago, I had gotten two new Katy Perry matte lipsticks. I decided to review them. I am not a makeup savvy or obsessed person, and just recently have I ventured in the Matte lipsticks world, but I definitely know fashion and style sense. So Katy Perry partnered up with Cover Girl to do a lipstick collaboration. The line has a variety of matte shades. I chose the Pink Paws and Sphynx Sphinx shades. I am a very pink tones and nude hues type of person when it comes to makeup preference. Rarely do I venture off to darker shades, because I prefer a cute and youthful look over a more smoky look.

Starting off by presentation, the lipsticks were nicely packaged. They serve the minimalist aesthetic that is all the rage right now on the online world. I love how the font was big and bold, and the shades were inscripted at the bottom, with bottom bases that matched the lipstick hue. The names for the shades are creatively done as well, and the whole "kitty kat" theme was well played with the small cat ear monograms at the bottom of the lipsticks. It is pretty cute for an everyday sort of lipstick, that is not from a haute couture brand.

Now packaging is not everything, so on to the product. Being matte lipsticks, they glide on smoothly and feel almost moisturizing. They do not carry that harsh dry effect that matte lipsticks do. So, your lips won't look like a crusty desert at the end of the day. That's a good thing. They have a creamy texture and it makes them also addicting to apply, kind of like how we become impulsive to applying chapstick all the time. Now here is the literal criticism. As nice as it feels, and as nice as it gives your lips coverage, the product is not long lasting. Matte lipsticks are supposed to cling to your lips and last hours. However, the Katy Kats do not. They stay on well for an hour or so, before you notice they start to wear off, especially if you will be eating or drinking. So my suggestion is, if you do go somewhere for a short amount if time, maybe running a quick errand, these are good for that matter.

They are in an essence a step above regular drug store makeup, but still not at permanency level. You will end up applying another coat to keep time going. I honestly don't mind applying more coats, after a while. Its not in need of frequent application, but these lipsticks are prone to wear off after an hour or two. I would highly recommend these lipsticks to highschool students, since they are more daily use friendly. You can toss it and go, there is no messing up with these. They are subtle and nice enough for younger girls. But, I would not recommend these lipsticks for a fancy event or party. You want makeup with longevity for that. These are dispensible, on the go, fun lipsticks. You can use them up for daily wear and get a new one afterwards. They retail for about $8 each, that is counting tax. They make the perfect backpack or purse lipstick.

Hence, they are better than dollar store or drug store makeup absolutely, but I would rank them at the Maybelline level of makeup. Decent and useful for everyday life. Is it good for huge events or important occasions. Not so much. They would make cute gifts and cute purse additions. Nonetheless, I am wearing the Sphynx Sphinx shade right now as I type this post, I still love the shade and color, and the creamy feel. That is basically my review on these lipsticks, they are your average lipsticks like any other celebrity endorsed products. Oh and I am not a Katy Perry fan, so no bias there.
