Every social media site is bustling with these new style of pictures, that has everyone reblogging them like crazy. The "ulzzang" style or the asian grunge style is sweeping trends. Which is bizarre because it is not some glamorous or wicked fashion sense, its very simple, cutesy and edgy in way. A combo of nerdy and urban style. The style relies heavily on natural flawless looks, and a subtle sense of dressing, thats casual and street hippy. So here is how to be an Ulzzang.
1) Makeup: The makeup is solely focused on how to make the features pop and make you seem like a natural beauty. One major objective is making an illusion of big eyes whether it is through circle lenses, white eyeliner, dramatic eyeliner, mascara, or false lashes.
2)Lips: The lips have to be a natural gradient and not flashy or bold. Stick to earthy hues or pale pinks. Powder your lips then apply color to the middle and press your lips. Do not fill in all the lips all the way.
3) Flawless skin: the skin has to stay pale or flawless. Make sure to get some skin remedy or skin routine depending on your skin to use. Or apply a thin sheen of foundation or BB cream.
4) Nose: the nose bridge has to seem elevated, so you can just brush highlighter down the nose bridge.
5) Hair: the hair has to be loosely done, to give a slight disheveled look. You have to condition it, for it to be sleek and straight. Stick to darker hair dye. Get either bangs or layers
6) Clothing: Oversized sweaters, canvas sneakers, big hoodies, chunky bracelets, beanies, converse, platform sandals or boots, tights, skinny jeans, cardigans, chokers, casual nerd glasses, necklaces, printed tees, neons or white shades, flannels, baseball caps, cute plaid skirts, short girly dresses, knee high socks,skater dresses, flowy tunics, long blouses, chunky boots, pastel hair dyes, kawaii accessories, various prints and textures, layered clothing.
7)Selfies: To complete the Ulzzang life style, you will need a social media page, where you update with bizarre photography. Take selfies in bright lighting to hide blemishes and flaws, make cute poses, take pictures in front of brick walls, or in the city, take pictures with lattes, teddy bears, skateboards, take pictures on busy streets for the urban look, and take the selfies from a high angle. Filter them with a deep tone to contrast the brights and the darks.
Well this is my Ulzzang tutorial for now, personally I really like the Ulzzang style too, but I feel like you should add your identity to it, so it isn't basic and dry like every Tumblr "model" ever. Merge your personal fashion sense with it, and you will stand out.
