Is BlackPink The Future Of YG Entertainment

We've all seen the Kpop world go crazy when after long waited years, top Korean record label, YG, debuted a second girl band, BlackPink. YG is home to some of the phenomenally successful Kpop artists of all time, such as Big Bang, 2ne1,and Psy. They finally debuted a new girl band, that took all the fandoms by storm and racked up over 30 million views on their debut music video upon the day of release. Their view is count is much higher now, and is an astronomical amount for a freshly debuted band. BlackPink consists of four girls, Jisoo, Jennie, Rose, and Lisa.

Each have been crafted to have diverse personalities and skills. Jisoo is the calm. quite elegant, and composed leader, while Jennie has a fresh edgy feel to her and a stoic look, Rose is the attractive, charismatic member, while Lisa is the youngest, cutest, and wildly unruly member.

They have four music videos as of now, such as "Boombayah," "Whistle," "Stay," "Playing With Fire." They have also released their first mini album, "Square One." Their sound has an edm and poppy touch to it, with amazing rapping skills. high energy and choreos and a plethora of colors and sparkles. They have different tone, its calm but very hype at the same time.

My initial reception to this band wasn't very good. At first I was irritated. I am the Kpop fan that loves the Underrated bands, the ones that deserve the fame and are seriously talented, so seeing a girl band that seemed very typical at first blow up over the internet was quite annoying. It was always BlackPink this and BlackPink that for days and days. As the drama died down a bit, I revisited them and finally enjoyed them. By the time their latest music video came out, I started to like this band. I'm still not crazy obsessive over them yet, but I see potential, I'm quite positive that is they continue on this trend, I'll be won over as a fan. YG entertainment, knew what they were doing. Big Bang is off to military service, and 2ne1 has lost its path and is uncertain on the future, YG debuted a hit new band at the right time. They knew they would have to pool money and fans in, with the absence of two of the biggest known kpop band.

They kept it simple and just like 2ne1, put in only 4 members in BlackPink. They kept the member count short, so there is less to invest on and thus put more meticulous detail in crafting the look, abilities, and persona for each member in depth. They worked to keep the style unique and create bombastic music videos with expensive effects and themes. BlackPink being a rookie has already won quite a few awards and music shows, which was very quick for a band that has been around for a few months. Their essentially the "little 2ne1 sisters," the famous label name definitely gave them a huge ride into the industry.

BlackPink as of now is YG's main focus and will most likely be their future. BlackPink was debuted very carefully at a keenly allotted time. With 2ne1 undecided, Exo and BigBang leaving to military service, and 4Minute disbanding, they carefully paved the girls in at a time where major bands were not active or present. That way all the attention was on the girls and they were able to make a powerful effect on fans. YG was quite clever with this debut, and kept it up with 4 music videos. BlackPink themselves have been keeping up very well, with so much pressure being the new pop princesses in the industry.

They've been playing concerts and music shows non-stop. The effort is paying off, but so is there company name. I don't mean to get sour, but many bands have talent similar to them, but haven't reached a momentum in their careers because their label isn't well known or massively rich. Nonetheless I wish these 4 new girls the best of luck, if they keep it up and don't run into trouble or scandals, they will be just fine as the future of YG.
